Women in Tech @ NUS Computing is dedicated to connect, empower, and build a community of female students and alumni to support their journey in tech.​

Why We Exist

Women in STEM in Singapore are more likely than men to face barriers to entry and progression in careers, simply due to their gender. Due to a lack of belonging, women often leave STEM career paths.​

While the number of female students at NUS SoC has slightly increased over the years, the ratio has not improved much.​

Advocacy empowers students by developing their leadership skills and boosting their confidence.

Career builds a space where students can meet industry professionals and seek advice to expand their outlook on future pathways

Community focuses on connecting students by hosting events for them to meet like-minded individuals

External Relations acts as the glue between WiT and corporate partners and helps spread the word about our initiatives.

A word from our advisor

Dr. Bimlesh Wadhwa

Dr. Wadhwa is a software engineering expert with a passion for empowering women in technology. â€‹She has developed and taught several courses e.g. object-oriented analysis and design, software engineering principles and patterns, software system design, interaction design, and information visualization.

Her research focuses on gender issues in human-computer interaction and improving software design. She has presented her work at major conferences and contributed to several books.

Dr. Wadhwa is a founding member of the Centre for Computing for Social Good and Philanthropy, where she initiated the Code for Community program. She is also active in organizing and judging competitions and hackathons. Dr.Wadhwa holds leadership positions in ACM-w Asia Pacific and WiT at NUS, and serves as a Faculty representative for the Student Chapter of the Singapore Computer Society.
